The Hive
by
Flo O'Mahony and Nick Gilbert
In
a world reliant on technology, is it possible to reconnect?
Using
puppetry, poetry, and their powerful ensemble, this visually spectacular story
pursues hope in a disconnected, underground world.
Inspired
by the likes of '1984' and 'Brave New World', The Hive tells the story of Koto,
who dares to think there might be something beyond the walls of his 8x8 cell.
The
Barn Theatre has long been a vital training ground for young creatives, and The
Human Zoo are so happy to be bringing their debut production, 'The Hive', back
to the stage where they learnt their craft. The Hive has been produced in association
with a number of London venues; Jacksons Lane, The Roundhouse and Pleasance London.
This
piece has been co-written by Florence O'Mahony (many-a-time Barn performer and
director for the Young Oxted Players) and Nick Gilbert (Winner of Best Young Actor
at the Southern Counties Drama Festival 2013). This is their only local performance,
before they head up to Edinburgh with Pleasance venues, having won the Les Enfants
Terribles Award 2014.
This
performance will help hugely in the fundraising of the budget needed to get the
show to the fringe, providing an important platform for this young company's growth
- and to those who saw us at Matthew's Yard - it's a very, very different show
to our previews!
We
are so, so grateful for your continued support.
