The Southern
Counties Drama Festival - 2008 Adjudicator - Colin DolleyWe
are delighted to announce that the adjudicator for the Southern Counties Drama
Festival in 2008 at the Barn Theatre will be Colin Dolley. Colin has recently
completed his term of office as Vice-Chairman of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators,
after serving his third term on the GODA Council. He is also a member of the Scottish
Association of Speech and Drama Adjudicators.
Trained
at the Central School of Speech and Drama in the art of Theatre Criticism, he
was Head of English and Drama in a large Surrey secondary school. For many years
he was theatre critic for a west London newspaper and has served on the Barclay's
Award Panel assessing professional productions nationwide.
An
extremely busy adjudicator, his numerous engagements have ranged throughout the
British Isles and beyond. He has adjudicated the National All-Winners Festival
and National Finals in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
In
addition to running drama workshops, Colin is a freelance director, having directed
more than thiry plays ranging from 'Amadeus' to 'Bedroom Farce' and 'A Streetcar
Named Desire' to 'My Night with Reg'.
Alomg
with Rex Walford he has co-written 'The One-Act Play Companion', which was published
last year by A & C Black. He has also edited the book 'On Being a Drama Adjuducator'.
Currently
on the training team for a national telephone help-line, he also uses his assessment
skills as a Mystery Visitor for restaurants and bars.
Colin
is delighted to be paying his fourth visit to the festival at the Barn Theatre.
