The Southern
Counties Drama Festival - 2010 Adjudicator - Arthur
Rochester GODA

The
adjudicator for the 2010 festival will be Arthur Rochester. Arthur is a vice-president
of the Bromley (Kent) Theatre Guild, comprising 17 member societies, which he
chaired for 14 years. In addition to acting and directing for many years at Bromley
Little Theatre where he was Artistic Director and with a number of other groups
in the south-east, he has appeared in leading roles at the Churchill Theatre,
on tour in Southern Spain and regularly at the Minack Open-Air Theatre in Porthcurno,
Cornwall.
Having
joined the Guild of Drama Adjudicators as an Associate in 2005, his first adjudicating
engagement was the Southern Counties Drama Festival of that year and he is delighted
to be returning to the Barn Theatre. Other festivals at which he has adjudicated
more than once are the Kent Drama Association Full-Length Festival, the Southend-on-Sea
Theatre Festival and the Duncan Rand Festival in Rochester, Kent.
Arthur's
approach to adjudication is founded on lifelong practical involvement in the amateur
theatre. He has participated in drama festivals for more than 30 years and has
undertaken virtually every job, both on- and off-stage, receiving festival awards
for acting, directing and design. He currently acts and directs primarily at the
Beckenham Theatre Centre.
