Set in a Yorkshire household during the 1900's, Inspector Goole calls at the home a wealthy industrialist to investigate the mysterious death of a young woman named Eva Smith. Each of the family has a secret which is revealed through a series of flashbacks. The determined inspector slowly proves their collective guilt before the final twist of the story.
